Shine West Bowling is only able to do all that it does, because of the faithful volunteers we have and the hours they give. We couldn't show you them all, but here are a few of their fabulous faces! Thank you to each and everyone of them #VolunteersWeek
Two of our volunteers, Ian and Sonia, shared something of their experiences.
Sonia, came to volunteer with a project years ago and we're thankful she's still involved today! She says, "I enjoy meeting all the different people coming through the doors for job search. At the end of the day, I know I’ve achieved something and that’s a great feeling."
"I first became aware of Shine West Bowling through my role with Better Start Bradford," Ian explains. "To begin with, I would drop in for a chat and a coffee and was made really welcome by the staff, volunteers and people who were being supported. This then progressed to me working from the Shine offices one day a week which gave me the opportunity to get to know everyone and understand what Shine actually did.
It wasn’t long before I became ‘hooked’ by Shine and became a volunteer Trustee in May 2016. Being a volunteer has given me further insight in to Shine, especially from a governance and strategic perspective and has helped me with my own personal and professional development.
During my 5 years as a Trustee, I have seen many changes and innovative ideas put into practice which have helped in supporting the local community and I feel proud and honoured that I have been part of this and feel we have grown and developed together. I look forward to both Shine and myself growing and developing in the future."
We look forward to that too, Ian! Shine West Bowling
